Sweet-scented bedstraw

Galium odoratum

Description:

Small and discreet plant, with a pleasant scent. About 20 cm in height, with beautiful little flowers, borne in cymes. Flowers are four-petaled, white and 4 to 5 mm in diameter.

Habitat:

Alpine environment, edge of mixed alpine forest. Grows in shade of other shrubs, discreet.

Notes:

In Croatia, there are uses of this plant in traditional herbal medicine. In Germany and Croatia, it is also used macerated in white wine, in preparation of invigorating elixir.
