Black-banded Orange

Epelis truncataria

Description:

About 2.5cm wingspan, with a dark brown base colour. The head is light brown and antennae are feathered. Behind the head, a pale patch defines the thorax. Fore wings have irregular white and yellow bands, which become predominantly yellow on hind wings.

Habitat:

Found among coastal scrub on Signal Hill, just outside of St John's.
