This one looks like it's nearing the end of this form. I tried to keep one alive once. In its active days, it was entirely yellow and reached out in branches. Once challenged by being moved from the forest floor, it hunkered down and looked like a cushion like this. Next it turned black--you can see this one starting to. At that point it's apparently sporulated, and the original colony goes inactive.
That's what I'd call it. Fuligo septica. Really cool stuff, slime molds. They can actually pass through a piece of silk cloth and reassemble on the other side. (I've done it. Well- the plasmodium did it. I just watched it happen. lol)
