Goldback Owlet Moth

Lygniodes schoenbergi

Description:

A dark brown moth with it's damaged wings spread open. Metallic yellow is present at the lower abdomen and the hindwing dorsum. Central body length - 38mm. This is a female, the males are much darker in color. Can be mistaken as a species under the tribe Ophiusini.

Habitat:

Forest areas of Maliau Basin, near Tawau town, Sabah. Endemic to Borneo lowland forests.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter. Sorry citizens of Noah, I will not be uploading spottings these few days or weeks because there seems to be a technical problem with my storage device where I keep all of my photographs. Hopefully the problem will be solved and I can continue to share my unusual spotting from Maliau Basin. I gave it the name "goldback" for the distinctive gold colored abdomen and hindwings this genus have.
