Norops tropidonotus
This mottled little lizard with a black mask had been caught by a cat. Even though we rescued it, it didn't survive :( It has a wonderful bright orange neck pouch with horny scales that it can extend below the neck (a male?).
Forested area, semi-urban, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
This genus is considered part of the "Beta Anoles". Practically every specimen shown is different in body color and pattern. The neck pouch or Dewlap seems to be only similar characteristic. http://vianica.com/sp/animales/reptiles/... http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/spe...

Yep, dewlaps are the same for all males for a species. Scott may be able to help too, but he hasn't been able to get online as much lately. I'll take a look at the snake :)
Thank you so much Ashley, I was hoping you would see this. All the Anoles with this name are sooo different in color and pattern. The Dewlap is usually consistent among individuals of a species? I'll put this species and if something new turns up let me know :)
Would you have a look at this little boa? I can't find anything like it.

Based on color and pattern of the dewlap, I would call this the Greater Scaly Anole, Norops tropidonotus . I can't find any info on it saying what characteristics they have, but of the other anoles I see, I don't see another one with this dewlap pattern. So I'm not positive it's that, but that's my best educated guess :)
