Laughing Kookaburra and baby

Dacelo novaeguineae

Description:

A fluffy young bird with a tail and beak shorter than the adult bird. It seemed to have dark feathers piled up like a crest on its head.

Habitat:

Spotted on a eucalyptus tree in a nature reserve ( Birds Land)

Notes:

The young bird was loud but sounded nothing like the adults- sounded more like it was being strangled ! It is a pity I could not get any closer as the area was fenced-off. It was a lovely sight to see the adult joining this noisy little ball of fluff !
