Ribbon eel

Rhinomuraena quaesita

Description:

Is a species of saltwater eel, the only member of the genus Rhinomuraena of the Muraenidae (Moray eel) family of order Anguilliformes. It can reach 65-85 cm (2 1/4-2 3/4 ft.). It has a brilliant blue body with yellow dorsal fin, snout, lower jaw and eye. Large fan-shaped nostrils and chin barbels.

Habitat:

Solitary or in pairs. Inhabits sandy burrows of coastal, lagoon and seaward reefs in 1-57 m. Indo-Pacific.
