A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Pheucticus ludovicianus
Approx 7-8 inches, very sharp colors. Whitish underbelly and tail with bright red breast. Beak is distinct to seed-crackers
Migration range, west central ga.
This is the first time I have EVER seen this bird in our area! After a little research I saw they do migrate from areas of South America and the Islands up north to the great lake states and into Canada where they summer. I guess our feeders were a suitable stop on their migration path. It took me 2 tries to get good photos. I saw the bird for the first time around April 18th.
