Eastern Phoebe

Sayornis Phoebe

Description:

Dark back, bright white breast. Did some research, lack of prominent wing bars makes this stand out as a phoebe as opposed to a flycatcher or swallow.

Habitat:

West Central Georgia

Notes:

This messy Phoebe has been preparing our front porch for nesting for months. It doesn't usually coat the entire ledge, but this year it did, slinging mud over the windows and walls as well. Not sure if this is a normal behavior. Caught it on the back porch gathering coconut husk from my plant liners, and then back at the front porch putting the nest together. When I spooked it, it stayed out in the open on a perch to keep an eye on me.
