Description:

Also known as a Sparrow Hawk is really the smallest falcon in America.
Dark grey crown and shoulders, white face and throat, with three black vertical slashes on each side of the head. Back of wings and back is rust color with barring. Light colored chest and belly with brown streaks. Back of tail is rust color with black on bottom edge. Females lack the grey shoulders and paler facial markings. Females lack the Small beak

Habitat:

habitats ranging from deserts and grasslands to alpine meadows. Usually perching on telephone wires along roadsides, in open country with short vegetation and few trees.
