Anas acuta
Males have dark brown head, with white neck that has a line that runs from up on the head down to it's chest. Grey flanks with brown and black pattern on it's back and of course it's long pintail. Migratory duck that is wide spread. These birds actually head south for the breeding season. Females have reddish brown head and brown speckled body. Shorter tail then the males.
Wetlands, lakes, sheltered estuaries, brackish marshes and coastal lagoons.
The first shot was taken when I was looking for a Tufted duck. Spotted the pair on a log along with a Snowy Egret. But I sacrificed the Snowy for this shot.

Thank you Telse. The actual setting there was a Snowy Egret to the right of the male.
Very, very nice Jellis! Love this shot.
I just love these birds. They may not be the most colorful but the distict pattern they have make them so handsome.
