Long-legged Buzzard

Buteo rufinus

Description:

Large and robust buzzard, somewhat eagle-like. Pictured here is a juvenile, with brown-rufous head and rufous-whitish striped chest, and barred tail. (in adults, the tail becomes rufous, chest darker brown-rufous and the head pale). Leggings are dark brown, legs yellow; yellow beak with black tip and yellow eyes.

Habitat:

Palearctic migrant, wintering in Africa - seen here in wide savanna to semi desert area, but not far away from Nile.
