Description:

A medium-sized diving duck with a bluish bill with a small black tip. Head, neck, upper back, and breast are black. The head has a purplish iridescence. Back is white, covered with thin, black wavy lines. Rump is black and the belly is white. The sides are white, with some fine dark streaks.

Habitat:

Several on one of string of small urban ponds.
