I was pretty ill there for a while--in/out of hospital. Then went away for holidays, but now back on the IDing path for PN.

Yes, it's definitely a Sphinx Moth.

Well I can tell you for certain this is a hawk moth also called a sphinx moth ... I'll have the check online to find an exact match when I'm at my laptop, not my iPad.
