Greater White-fronted Goose

Anser albifrons

Description:

We spotted this guy swimming with a group of Canada geese and mallard ducks. He was a little smaller than a Canadian goose, but bigger than a duck. We think he's a white-fronted goose, but are not sure. He wasn't that close, which is why the image is a bit blurry.

Habitat:

Suburban pond.

Greater White-fronted Geese are the "Blue Goose" of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Cool spotting!

There was one here in Pa. at the pond at Dorney Park (may still be here) also mixed in with a flock of Canada Geese. You cannot mistake their call when you hear them.
