About 30mm long; a delicate net cocoon with pupa made of caterpillar hairs. Pupa mostly cream-white and about a quarter was salmon coloured.
On the bark of a large Melaleuca sp. in suburban street.

The larvae of this moth feed on lichen
The female is wingless.

I think you were right with Arctinae on the other spotting bayucca. I realise now these are probably far too big for diamondback moth. Thanks for commenting. I am backing off from my original ID and going with your suggestion on Manuel's spotting.
Never seen anything like it
A 360° view shows indeed a larger spaced construction. Again, I am not experienced with it to confirm, but looks definitely close and might be the Plutella xylostella indeed.
