Rough Legged Hawk and Bald Eagle (Immature)

Buteo lagopus & Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Golden/dark brown back and stomach, with white spot next to body, and dark line through eye. (1st picture top Bald Eagle, bottom Rough legged hawk. 2nd Rough legged Hawk. 3rd Rough legged Hawk and Bald Eagle fighting.)

Habitat:

Shoreline in Elk Neck State Park.

Notes:

Rough legged Hawk and Immature Bald eagle fighting in flight over Elk Neck State Park. This shoreline park is a common place to see migratory hawks, non the less Eagles, but I was very confused when I saw these two fighting it out in the sky. I couldn't Identify while in the field, so with help from a friend I figured out that the Eagle was defending it's territory from the Rough Legged Hawk.
