Also knlow as the Great White Heron or Common Egret that is about 40 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds. It has yellow bill and males and females are identical in appearance.
Inland and costal wetlands and migrates in the northern hemisphere, moving into cooler areas during the summer and warmer areas in the winter. Feeds on fish, frogs small mammals and sometimes on small reptiles. They spear their prey with their long pointed bills.
In 1953 the Great Egret was chosen as the symbol of the National Audubon Society.
