Tiger Moth

Description:

A Tiger Moth with an unusual pattern. The legs are striped, the underwings seem to be grey and the abdomen is grey with a spot of orange on each side of terminal end. There is a small red mite next to it that wants a free ride and lunch.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters

It is from Costa Rica, but Chiapas is so poorly studied and so much more like Central America than the rest of Mexico.

Erebidae, Arctiinae, Arctiini, Ctenuchina, Eucereon sp.. Unfortunately one of the most complex genus with many similar and unidentified ones...
