Description:

Also known as a Hedge Brown, they are separated from the very similar Southern Gatekeeper by the spots on the hindwing underside. These all appear to be females, the males having darker bands on the forewing uppersides.

Habitat:

Mountain airfield at 1100 metres asl, grass with scattered shrubs and bushes and a pond which often dries out in summer. Often used for grazing sheep.
