Virginia Tiger Moth

Spilosoma virginica

Description:

Medium sized, pale orange, "furry" caterpillar. Some hairs noticably longer. Darker speckling can be seen through the hairs.

Habitat:

Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Semi-wooded area near a brackish water source. Found on the underside of a leaf on a Common Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis).
