Lerps are protective waxy covers made by Psyllid insect nymphs, hemipterans (plant lice) on eucalyptus leaves. The nymphs excrete honeydew; the sugars and aminoacids in teh honeydew crystallise in contact with air to form lerps. Size and shape of the lerp differs from species to species. Some Glycaspis sp produce yellowish lerps but they are usually square or conical in shape. Some psyllids of Cardiaspina species produce basket lerps which are yellow if on the upper side of the leaf but, this one does not look like a basket lerp. The ID needs confirmation.
