Sulfur Tuft

Hypholoma fasciculare

Description:

Grows in clusters usually along stumps or at the foot of trees. Bright yellow or golden cap which flattens as it matures, with yellow gills that go grey as they age, making it hard to separate from Smokey-gilled Woodlover, which is less common in our area.

Habitat:

Mixed forest with moss and salal understory. Lots of decaying wood and stumps to support fungi.
