Curry Tree/Plant

Description:

This plant becomes a tree, but at the time, it was 0.5 meters tall. It also has fruit, but during the spotting there wasn't any. The leaf venation was netted pinnate, and the arrangement was alternate, although the branches were whorled on the stem. The leaf shape was ovate, and the leaf margins were entire. Each leaf was 4 cm long, and 1.5 cm wide. The stem was thick and rough, and the leaves were smooth and leathery.

Habitat:

This plant was found in Singapore in a secondary rainforest by a path.

Notes:

The curry leaf is often used in Indian cooking. The tree grows from 4-6 meters tall. The leaf is also used as an herb in medicine, and it is native to India and Sri Lanka. It actually has small, shiny berries that are edible, but the seeds are poisonous.
