Pyralid Moth

Endotricha pyrosalis

Description:

2 cm with a burnt orange triangle on red earth coloured wings with black banding and ochre fringe at the bottom Upright stance may indicate pyralid although I also expected Crambid ODONTIINAE but my references do not show it at all. It is arching it's pink abdomen in both images and this may be mating behaviour for the release of pheromones as it seems all the moths are in party mode this month

Habitat:

Nocturnal although it may be a diurnal grass moth that has been disturbed. On the leaves of Clivea under all night light at apartments

Notes:

My favourite moth it took a few days to get a decent photo. Under lights and angled incorrectly the colours and markings are lost on this one Files# red earth moth.
