Trichiocercus sparshalli
An attractive caterpillar with dense white and yellow setae along the length of its 40mm long body. On the dorsal side were rows of red, black and white tufts as seen in pic #2.
Eucalyptus tree - Stringy bark
The head end is supposed to have a long pencil-thin tuft of black hair -not evident in this caterpillar. When very young, caterpillars follow each other in a procession, later instars are seen as solitary caterpillars like this one. They turn into attractive, slightly heavy-bodied moths. These moths are from Family Notodontidae

A beautiful caterpillar....
Thanks John. All of last year I only saw black or dark furry caterpillars. So, this was a delightful find for me.
Thanks Martin.
This link shows the head clearly

Thanks martin. I need to look at your spotting of this caty - I don't know which end is the head end as he was very still when these photos were taken.
Nice spotting Leuba. I saw several in a group last year. I intend to grow one out this time to determine the pupa type.
That vermillion is so intense.
