A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Smooth white umbrella cap on the mature fruiting body. 4cm or 5cm across the mature cap. Immature fruits are club-like with smooth surface. No scent noticeable. White gills. The stem on the mature fruiting body has a ring structure slightly above half-way from the ground.
Mulched soil in a community vegetable garden. Shaded corner beneath weeds and against the locally sourced sandstone retaining wall. After a week or so of consistent rain
# mar 14 community garden mushroom. The camera lens is chipped and I am unable to replace to for a while. More research due. Possible.. http://www.elfram.com/fungi/fungi_k/leuc... (Leucoagaricus ooliekirrus) Thanks also to Bill Leithhead's site
Thanks Kulifield. That snail was a bonus. I like it also. I will look into the id. We do have Amanita here I think. Your assistance is appreciated
It's hard to tell entirely from a photo, and I am not familiar with Australian species, but they look enough like Amanitas to give it a go. The shape of the stem just under the ground is key in this ID - Amanitas have a bulb. Gorgeous shots - love the snail!
