Amorphophallus bulbifer

Description:

Beautiful pink spathes on 'snake skin' patterned stalks. Stands approximately 35cm tall. This aroid lays dormant for the majority of the year. May only flower once per year. When the spathe opens, it emits an unpleasant odor to attract pollinators.

Habitat:

Growing in shaded area of the Cairns Botanic Gardens

Notes:

Originates in Burma, Himalayas, India

Thank you Keith and Mayra. The beautiful pink spathes lit up the usually green leafy garden. They looked spectacular. Too bad we don't see them for long in the garden.
