Thorn Treehopper

Umbonia crassicornis

Habitat:

In legumes and certain fruit trees. Southern Texas and Florida through South America.

Notes:

Finally found some, I've been scouting the trees around TERRA since EnvUnlimited posted his spotting. (thanks for the heads up). I found five females on separate branches (end twigs, really) of two trees. All of them were guarding their own nymph brood, as they tend to do according to bugguide.net Since there are nymphs present, I'm including it in EnvUnlimited's young FL animals mission.
