Sphaerechinus granularis

Description:

Sphaerechinus granularis is a species of sea urchin in the family Toxopneustidae, commonly known as the purple sea urchin. Its range includes the Mediterranean Sea and eastern Atlantic Ocean. This urchin was spotted washed-up in Kato Gatzea beach, Pagasitikos gulf Greece. Since it was still alive, it was rescued and returned in the sea water.
