Southern Cats Eye Emperor Moth

Aurivilius fuscus

Description:

about 15 cm wingspan. Fantastic moth. The forewing spots has a transparent part in them which can be seen in the third photo. There are two different individuals in this spotting, so it is possible to se the small differences in the pattern.

Habitat:

Lodge during the evening.

Notes:

My first record of this Moth was at the end of October last year. I am happy to see that it is active now as well. (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/615...)

This is so beautiful. It looks so much like our Central American species of Copaxa (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/327...). I like the name Cat's Eye Moth.
