Euproctis varians
Erebidae; Lymantriinae; Euproctis (Walker, 1855). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euproctis_...... states "It is found in India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Celebes and China". There is no mention of the Philippines, as you can see. However, Philippine Lepidoptera - https://philepidoptera.wixsite.com/moths...... confirms its presence.
I spotted this moth sitting on the metal gate of our dog kennels, this morning.
I am sufficiently confident to post this spotting as Euproctis varians (and my previous spotting - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/29...... ), but I am slightly concerned that this could be an Unidentified Nygmiini. I have gone ahead with E. varians because of the weight of evidence in favour of that species. However, because of this slight doubt (mainly caused by Wikipedia's poor quality photo), I will check further and if any editing is necessary, I will attend to it A.S.A.P. (including my previous spotting).
