Nagoonberry

Rubus arcticus

Description:

Considered one of the tastiest berries you can find in Alaska. Very low growing. I have found them on mountains and in low bogs. They seem to like a lot of moisture (this mountain is always shrouded in fog, so the plants get very wet)

Habitat:

Top of Pillar Mountain among crowberries and other low-growing plants and lichens

Notes:

The flowers and berries are very similar to salmonberries, but they do not get as tall and the leaves on these are a bit rounder than salmonberries.
