Genduara punctigera
An brown moth with attractive white, grey and black patterns and a wing span of about 40 mm. Wings were tented, with a white tipped abdomen just visible at the rear end. The head and thorax was covered with dense short white setae with the thorax showing three dark spots. The antennae were dark and feathery (Main Pic). The underside of the wings appeared to be of a similar colour as the upper side and the abdomen showed bands of sooty brown and white.
Spotted in a nature reserve resting on a spiky acacia next to a Cherry Ballart tree ( native cherry). Larvae of these moths feed on Cherry Ballart (Exocarpos cupressiformis) Distribution: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Genduara+p...

Beautiful and great pictures!!
Spectacular insect!
Great find, Leuba.
Lovely! And in a need of a hair-trim :)
Thanks Leanne & Marta. I don't think they're very active during the day. It was sheer luck that I spotted him deep within the bush. I think it was his very white head that gave him away...a cutie, for sure.
Amazing close up, Leuba!
Beautiful Leuba!
You're right-another bird-dropping imitator !
