Description:

long blade-like leaves with a long root leading to a reportedly edible bulb; I dug these up with some young Bedouin children and I know the name in Arabic but can't figure out what they are.

desert plains in the spring after a very wet winter

Yes, the wadis here around Dahab are already so green! I can't wait to visit the higher mountain region later this spring. Should be amazing!

PS there were strong rains in E Sinai this October, there should be interesting flowering there now...

winter bloomer, it has 3 hairless leaves that form a king of a cup.
