Beaked Rose Moth

Scopelodes venosa Walker, 1855

Description:

At first it appears like a small leaf! The body background is dark which is covered with yellowish grey hair all over. Has a pair of prominant marble-like eyes. Later spotting of a similar specimen was also dangling like this one! Has a tuft of hair hanging from its head like that of some childrens' caps. Length: 27mm.

Habitat:

Mixed forests of bamboos, cherry, pines and other. Cool to warm place. Altitude: 1,700 m.

Notes:

This moth had visited our terrace light.
