Ganoderma Bracket Fungus

Description:

Ganoderma have large, leathery, woody brackets. The fruit bodies typically grow in a fan-like form on the trunks of living or dead trees. This one was at least 10 inches in size.

Habitat:

Growing out of a tree near Buttermilk Falls

Notes:

Ganoderma fungi are economically important in that they are used in medicine, are useful in bioremediation, and have bioactive compounds.
