Caspian Tern

Description:

The largest of the Tern family these birds can weigh up to 28oz and wingspan up to 53in. Easy to identify by their size and when they are resting near gulls. Sleek body, with gray backs and wings. Black cap that varies in length. Heavy orange bill with faint dark tip. Black legs.

Habitat:

Along the west coast they don't go too far inland. These here were found along the coast. Some have been nesting in the bay area.
