Lichen Mimic Moth

Hydriomena sp.

Description:

IF YOU CAN FIND ME, YOU CAN EAT ME! Moth about 1 cm long that exactly matches the lichen growing on pine. The underwings are similar to the upper wings at the top, but are grey at the bottom. It sometimes lands with the wings closed and the underside also matches the lichens. Family Geometridae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, it is very active and skittish so I had to refrigerate it for a while in order to photograph it on lichen. San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
