Description:

Woodland strawberry fruit is strongly flavoured, and is still collected and grown for domestic use and on a small scale commercially for the use of gourmets and as an ingredient for commercial jam, sauces, liqueurs, cosmetics and alternative medicine. It has a very pretty dainty white flower with a bright yellow 'eye' with very distinct leaves.

Habitat:

seen growing in the woodlands of Potteric Carr, owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.

All our woodlands are covered in it but I can't imagine the fruit lasts long enough for people to find it with all the birds about!

I don't think I've ever tried a wild strawberry. I'll make it my aim this summer!
