Underwing Moth/Fruit Piercer

Eudocima sikhimensis

Description:

Looks just like a dried leaf if seen from the sides. The yellow underwing with black marks is usually hidden unless in flight.

Habitat:

It was my pennultimate day in office, the working day was coming to a close. I was walking on an open terrace across the corridor and just opposite my roof when I thought this dried brown leaf near my feet needed to be flicked away. Imagine my surprise when it came to life and began to whirl around very rapidly. So rapidly that my camera could not capture a good shot(last photo). I think the moth was dying because after it came to rest...it simply lay there. The next day it was gone. Flown away or breakfast for the early bird, I will never know.
