Aquilegia vulgaris

Description:

Not quite yet open. The flowers of the plants are used as a food source mostly by noctuid moths which are noted for feeding on poisonous plants without harm. Also known as Grannies bonnets. They are perennials and native throughout the northern hemisphere.

Habitat:

seen in low common meadows, maintained by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.

Notes:

late flowering due to the cold spring.
