Laccaria sp.

Laccaria sp.

Description:

A medium sized unusual shaped fungus about 50mm wide and 65mm tall. Cap has high, flattened dome with very wavy margin, all orange-brown. Stipe tapered top to bottom, fibrous and a good bunch of white mycelium near the base. Gills are open and complex reflecting the shape of the cap.

Habitat:

Under acacia in woodchip mulch in wet eucalyptus rain forest. National park.

Notes:

A warped Laccaria... still hoping for species. This might be yet another victim of the incredible mini drought we went through - making it resemble a giant Marasmius in the cap. Must get spores next time.
