The red-shouldered hawk is about 15-19" in size with a 3 1/2 foot wingspan. Has red wing linings, reddish head, shoulders and chest and belly. Black and white bands on wings and tail. This red-shouldered hawk is a permanent resident at our local park. I first spotted him a year ago and just saw him again this morning.

This red-shouldered hawk is a complete joy to spot as it is a year-round resident of kinder farm county park here in Millersville, Maryland.
