Longbodied Cellar Spider

Pholcus phalangioides

Description:

Very long legged spider with a long, yellow-tan abdomen. There is a faint pattern on the abdomen. The cephalothorax is light with a dark spot in the center.

Habitat:

It was in my black hat on the floor of my tent. I was luckily I saw it before I put it on my head! It dropped down to the ground and walked away.

Notes:

Aka daddy-long-legs. This is a very common spider throughout the US.

Thank you ulvalactuca77. I recall using the common name of daddy long legs for any spider with really long legs as a child. Now that I've been on PN, I use the more common "common" name. I have yet to spot a harvestmen!

I usually relate the common name Daddy Long legs with the harvestmen. Though I knew that there is also a daddy long leg spider and a daddy long leg crane fly, I have never known anyone to use that common name. Lovely pics.
