Purple Martin female

Description:

Birds is about 8 inches long. It is brown on top with some steel blue sheen. The chest is a lighter than the top.In flight the tail was observed to slightly forked. The in flight image of the bird is that of a swallow. The second photo show a mockingbird that landed very near to the female martin. The birds exchanged their twitters.

Habitat:

Near open fields and a flowing stream.

Notes:

I have observed these birds for about a week. I have been unable to capture a photo of a resting male martin.
