Red Russula

Russula sp.

Description:

Like the genus Lactarius, russulas have a distinctive flesh consistency, which is also reflected in the appearance of the gills and stipe, and normally makes them immediately recognizable. They have no trace of a veil (no ring, or veil remnants on the cap). The gills are brittle except in a few cases, and cannot be bent parallel with the cap without breaking. Hence the genus Russula sometimes known as 'brittle gills'. They have splitting gills and do not exude a milky substance at cut surfaces, contrary to the genus Lactarius. Presence of large spherical cells, 'sphaerocysts'in stipe is an important characteristic feature to distinguish the members of Russulaceae from other mushroom. In Russula stipe breaks like the flesh of an apple, whilst in most other families it only breaks into fibres. The spore powder varies from white to cream, or even orange. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rus...

I understand that its best to not make Russula identifications without microscopy, specialized literature, and preferably expert advice. This especially goes for the many red ones. There is a Russula expert in my area who has a poster with local species which include ~6 red species alone...

So Orbea you think that is better ID only like russula species, rigth?
I began this year to make spore prints,,this one is from last season.

HA HA HA true, well we were lucky, it was raining the whole May but from then not even a drop :) I like it that way, no complains! try to think about me when you gonna invoke rain again and say: look cloud that little place somewhere on the Adriatic coast: let is burn in the sun at least till November ;D here is 28ºC in the sea :D pretty solid feeling of summer I'd say!

It look like i maked a super strong rain invocation ,so strong, that all europe is flooded :-) i hope to have these heather until sptember :-) warm (20\25ºc) normaly 4 days sun and 3 days raining, is good for all :-) they say the real summer is coming only in sptember due to a weather anomalie like the el niño in the pacific, this is alover the northen hemisphere, lets see what hapen during next months

jema@ I have come across one really nice quote few day ago, maybe you should forward it to your friend ;) "Life is just this way. Sometimes the crisis is the healing. And fear is often the vanguard to courage.’"

@Injica thanks :-) i'am surprised too, when rain show up(this year is more rainy than others) there is allways some fresh ones borning, almost in the same shadow places i visit, not many but luckly for me they continue to show up,this one is beautiful :-)
@Jemma life is allways a surprise, for the best and for the bad too.
Hoping your friend keep the hope in life, because there is allways something and someone to know and life continue is way, take care
