Unknown shelf fungus species growing inside a decomposing log on the Radar Hill ridge, Fort Shafter, Oahu, Hawaii. Need an assist from a fungi expert to identify this one!

The tree the fungus is growing on is a casuarina, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casuarina

Ganoderma is also an option.. I know some palms are vulnerable. Timber type?

This one looks like a Fomitopsis species to me but we'd need to see the under surface looking for colour and pore shape and size. Fomitopsis pinicola looks a good candidate but there may be others in O'ahu.
