Lime Butterfly

Papilio demoleus

Description:

Birdpoop like caterpillar. Dark and light green, wet looking. At a certain moment (had no camera at that time) I saw a red osmeteria (kind of slimy split tongue like thing) sticking out. Interesting! It is about 2 cm in length.

Habitat:

Our garden near reservoir and jungle, Yishun Singapore

Notes:

I believe this is the 4th instar of a Common Mormon (from my caterpillars of Singapore's butterflies book ) I spotted it because my lime tree was being nibbled away, and there it was...the culprit. It has now moved to a safe box with fresh leaves where it can become a butterfly while eating the leaves (chosen by me)
