Description:

Forewing narrow, blackish-brown or grayish (color and pattern varies considerably); thin black horizontal line midway along inner margin, and pale triangular patch usually present along costa at apex; PM line slightly wavy with small but conspicuous outward bulge near costa. Hindwing broad and uniformly medium to dark grayish-brown with darker veins and faint spot.

Habitat:

Adults are on wing from March to November or all year round in warmer regions.

Notes:

The larvae feed on low-growing legumes, including alfalfa, bean, clover, pea and soybean.
